27.07.2010 - Mr Confuse
You might wanna focus your attention on this fine Remix EP by 'The Uptown Felaz' from Budapest!?
The Uptown Felaz have done a brilliant remix of my tune 'The Groove Merchant' which was already released digital on my album 'Feel The Fire - The Remixes' - so now for the first time on Vinyl!
Artist: THE UPTOWN FELAZ
Title: REMIX EP
A1. Kerekes Band / Csango Boogie (The Uptown Felaz Remix)
A2. Mr. Confuse / The Groove Merchant (The Uptown Felaz Remix)
B1. Irie Maffia / Slow Down Chale (The Uptown Felaz Remix)
B2. Kokolo / The Magnificent Seven (The Uptown Felaz Remix)
This new Shiftin' Gears 12" features four great dancefloor oriented remixes by label owners The Uptown Felaz! Popular local (Irie Maffia, Kerekes Band) & international artist's (Mr. Confuse, Kokolo) tunes were rethought by the band, the musical style is the usual funkbreak spiced with some world music & breakbeat.
First track remixed is Csango Boogie by local group Kerekes Band. A modern funk tune with hungarian folk musical elements which is also known here in Hungary for its great Lego figure videoclip. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KS9hqZuT0U) This remix includes lyrics by Mc Soup (Jurassic 5) the acapella taken from Dj Z Trip’s track 'Listen To The DJ', all permission was granted kindly by Mr. Z Trip. The tune recieved great radio airplay and was also used as soundtrack by the New York Hungarian Institute in one of its promotional films but available officially for the first time here!
The second track remixed on side A is The Groove Merchant, a great funk track by german artist Mr. Confuse. Already released digitally on his remix album (Feel The Fire – The Remixes – LEGO018) but thanks to the enormous number of downloads the label was kind enough to allow us to release this rework on vinyl as well!
Side B kicks things of with one of the most popular festival bands here in Hungary, Irie Maffia. The video hit Slow Down Chale from their new album Whats My Name!? has been a retouched by The Uptown Felaz and has had great reactions so far! Massive funkbreak with a great singalong vibe, a pure party anthem for the peak hours!
The last track remixed by The Uptown Felaz on the EP is The Magnificient Seven, a storming track (originally a Clash tune) by American latin sound ambassadors Kokolo. Style is dub-Latin funk & balearic elements are also inlcluded! This bit is definately a worthy closing to this vigorous EP!
