Animanz
Style: Exotica, Psyche, Jazz, Funk, Cumbia, Afro
London-based Animanz and their Congolese singer Juanita Euka: The genre-smashing collective started as a collaborative project between childhood friends Max Rodriguez (guitar), Joshua Brandler (bass) and Marc Goymour (keys) in 2013. Soon after, Juanita joined the two, adding an eclectic set of influences to the bands unique style.
Animanz have been playing up and down the UK, with – as they put it – “carrying out strategic parties in an effort to set free as many people as possible through the escapism of dance”.
Their sound unites flavours of rhumba, cumbia and afro with a punk attitude and electro-funk energy. Their debut album Exotic Other was released on Tru Thoughts in September 2018.
We highly recommend to follow their advice and “Attend one of their breakout inducing shows before they GET RECAPTURED.”
