Style: Audio Visual, Hip Hop, Ghetto Funk, Mash Up

Hailing from London… the UK’s eyewear jokester, DJP is known to many as one of the key players in the funky breaks scene, as well as an Audio Visual DJ like no other… Some say he also has big glasses.

Style in five words:
Hip hop nerd goes party!

Genres that struck me first:
Hip hop, rap, funk, soul, breaks

Most influential artists:
Jurassic 5, Ugly Duckling, Jazzy Jeff, Mark Ronson

My three most successful tracks/remixes:
Second Hand Audio – Set It Off (feat. Akil the MC)
Cedar Senior & Imagine This – Funk I’m Kickin’ (DJP Remix)
B-Side – Dope Rider (Second Hand Audio Remix)

Greatest moment of my career:
Working with a number of my favourite artists as ‘Second Hand Audio’

What makes a DJ a DJ?
Providing a soundtrack and or performance to an evening that people will not only enjoy, but remember.

My favourite embarrassing tune:
Far too many 90’s R&B slow jams than I care to admit!

Weirdest thing that happened on tour:
Numerous incidents in the company of Smoove that I daren’t ponder on for too long.

MP3 – VINYL: Why?
Vinyl is the format I use to play music and or video…  If the best format I have a copy of a song which will make an impression is a mp3, then I’ll use vinyl to control it’s playback.  Make the best of a situation.

Shouts to the clubs & promoters:
Shouts to Max Gyver!  Dario and the Krempel team!  Holger and the NYADS crew! Giancarlo and everybody at Kurhaus!  Further shouts to everybody that’s ever booked or come to a show.
