Artists:
Mooqee (Bombstrikes Records)
DJ
Style: Baltimore, Breaks, Electro, Funk, Nu Funk,
In between creating tracks and co-managing infamous label Bombstrikes, Mooqee can be found pedalling his genre twisting sound through what are becoming legendary dj sets, as either the headliner or alongside such luminaries as Krafty Kuts, Dj Yoda, A.Skillz, Scratch Perverts, Stanton Warriors and Utah Saints. Mooqee has been gathering some serious heat over the last year with airtime from Radio 1 in the UK, hook ups with label mates Beatvandals and Russ from Cuban Brothers…..all with the usual Mooqee style devastation. Rapidly establishing himself as the one of the scenes big players, he is constantly full of surprises and armed to the teeth with his own edits and remixes to ensure the party goes off. Always un-missable, we think it is impossible not to shake what your mamma gave ya whilst this man is playing. In addition to his Mooqee work, alongside Utah Saints he is also one of the people behind the hugely successful Sugarbeatclub nights in the UK. Established in 2001 the night is held in London, Edinburgh, Leeds, Bristol and Leicester as well as various festivals. With past guest including Soulwax, Justice, Erol Alkan, Annie Mac, Freestylers, Stanton Warriors, High Contrast and many more.

Bombstrikes Records:
With floor destroying releases of such a high calibre, Bombstrikes has achieved notoriety and established itself as a label to watch. Founded and run by two of the funky breaks scene’s leading lights the Beatvandals and Mooqee. The label pushes a genre bashing music agenda aimed squarely at dancefloors. Originally featuring releases from the two head honchos, the label expanded to bring in the likes of Fingerlickin’s funky beats don A.Skillz, Australian wonder kid Nick Thayer, Baltimore club originator KW Griff and fast rising star Featurecast.
The philosophy behind the label's sound is simple; it has to rock the dancefloor. It's the conviction in this manifesto that has quickly propelled the label to the status it now enjoys. It has defined it's own sound and has an army of supporters waiting on each release. The chances are if you have heard a breaks or beats set in the last two years it will have featured a Bombstrikes release. The label immediately picked up significant airtime on Radio 1, X FM and Kiss in the UK before expanding it’s sound worldwide with increasing global sales and exposure. The press has also been quick to pick up on the Bombstrikes sound, with favourable reviews appearing in Dance music press. Given it’s guaranteed dancefloor reactions the label has become a Dj’s best friend with a global network of Dj’s helping the profile to grow organically through word of mouth rather than via an over hyped marketing plan. Props for the label have been given by the leading players with DJ's: Yoda, Krafty Kuts, Joe Ransom and Ca$h Money, to name just a few, all having a bombstrike at the front of their boxes. Mixmaster Mike has even been known to open a Beastie Boys arena show with one of the Bombstrikes back catalogue…so far reaching has the appeal become.
With a release numbering system evoking memories of the legendary ‘Ultimate breaks’ series they have ensured that people who are only just discovering the Bombstrikes sound know there is a back catalogue of some note worth tracking down. As they move onto their 18th release some of the earlier volumes have been spotted changing hands for over $100 each, such is the desire of djs and collectors alike to ensure they have the full collection. Which in today’s market of digital file sharing and mp3s is no mean feat.
some quotes about Bombstrikes:
"These are Predictably amazing" Dj Yoda “Some Heavyness as always” Zane Lowe – BBC Radio 1 UK
"Dancefloor Dynamite from the Bomb strikes crew. Every one thus far has been a total WINNER in Boca's box!!" Bocca 45
"Unashamed party rockers everytime" - IDJ magazine
"Classy and clever and not to mention real funky." Freddy Fresh
"Bombstrikes Goes from Strength to strength" Russ (Cuban Brothers)
